Process and Equipment Design...
In the past decade, MSTI’s Equipment & Processes department has earned a reputation across the globe for designing and fabricating groundbreaking technologies that will soon change the way our industries operate.
We are currently one of the very few innovators developing and applying microwave technology to metals processing. Advantages of this technology include reduced energy consumption, improved metal purity, improved safety, reduced equipment size and infrastructure, reduced environmental hazards/ wastes, and lower overall cost. MSTI is providing design support and control systems as well as performance testing of microwave units for the Department of Energy’s National Security Complex (NSC) for processing various nuclear and non-nuclear materials. This technology is included in the planned multibillion dollar modernization of production facilities at Y-12. Take a look below to read about two more groundbreaking projects lead by our skilled Equipment and Processes team:
Depleted Uranium Crucible Cleaning Station
A working system which includes a cleaning chamber, cleaning brush drive and manipulation equipment, and a wet residue collection system for Y-12’s NSC.
Security Network Design
The design and installation of a secure wireless intrusion detection network throughout Y-12 to provide their Security Division the capability to monitor roads with video transmission and a high-speed data network for all mobile applications.
