Don't miss out on attending the Nuclear Opportunities Workshop 2022. To register, please visit: www.eteconline.org/now-2022.

Randy Inklebarger, our President and CEO, spoke to an audience of 50 attending the November meeting of the Technical Society of Knoxville about the roles he had most enjoyed and were most influential in his career. He was invited by Mr. Jim Beavers, one of MS Technology's founders.
Mr. Inklebarger's talk spring boarded from one of his favorite quotes, "Your children will become what you are, so be what you want them to be," and then proceeded to show how that simple concept is embodied in five key aspects of leadership.
-
Project Management. He analyzed two Harvard Business Review articles in the context of consulting engineering today, then pivoted to digital twins and the impact this is having on projects globally.
-
Leadership. He defined leadership on several levels, exploring the nuances and overlap between leadership and management.
-
A Project Delivery System. He emphasized the value of a strong and well-defined delivery system that is driven by good leadership.
-
The Abundance Model. He leveraged a case study from his experience working on the Boeing plant in Washington state to describe the Abundance Model, which was created as a process to rescue failing projects through a focus on a vision for success.
-
Project Leadership. He defined project leadership through his real-world experience as director of a massive project in Bohai, China.
The talked was bookended with great quotes, as Mr. Inklebarger brought the project leadership discussion to a close with this from Winston Churchill:
"To every person there comes in life that special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered that chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified."

A leader is best when people barely
know they exists…Not so good when
people obey, worse when they despise.
A leader is perfect when upon
completion of the task the team says,
“We did it ourselves!"

Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge Wins 2021 Non-Profit of the Year Award
January 11, 2022
Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce awarded 2021 Non-Profit of the Year Award to Free Medical Clinic
On Friday, January 7, the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce honored area business leaders and businesses at its second annual An ExtraORdinary Evening and Installation dinner. Several Free Medical Clinic staff, board members, and Mary Lou Auxier were on hand to receive the 2021 Non-Profit of the Year Award. The Executive Director, Billy Edmonds, gave the acceptance speech below:
"On behalf of The Free Medical Clinic, including our board of directors, staff, donors, volunteers and stakeholders to the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce and its leadership and members, thank you for this honor and recognition. We are humbled by your encouragement tonight. Thanks to our exceptional FMC team, generous donors, faithful volunteers, dedicated community partners, and our competent and compassionate board. Look what we can do when we work together for a worthy shared mission?! Over 14,000 of our neighbors in our service area qualify for our no charge primary care - helping the low-income and uninsured. These dear people live in fear of becoming sick or injured and many have to choose between putting food on their table or going to the doctor, but because of our team, donors, volunteers and partners we give them peace instead of fear, we are here for them so they no longer live in that fear. But over a couple of years now, due to Covid, we all have experienced that fear. FMC made sure to be here for not just them but anyone in our community who needed medical care during this historic pandemic. We have served those who have lost jobs to help bridge their care as they fell on hard times. For the first time in our history we have served the general public as we provided over 40 community mobile clinics to give lifesaving Covid-19 Vaccines and boosters to anyone in our community. We have opened a new clinic and extended services times in underserved areas while forging new valuable community partnerships. When our community needed the Free Medical Clinic, we were there and we are still here during this Covid fight. It has been our pleasure to be on the front lines of care as we are committed to fight this pandemic with a “whatever it takes” determination. Our beloved founder Dr. John Auxier passed away in August 2020, Mary Lou (his wife is with us tonight), Mary Lou, I know John is looking down right now and cheering us on and thrilled with what we have done with his vision to help those in need. This award is dedicated to him. 'Thanks John, we miss you.' Thanks again everyone – let’s keep joining together to help people in need and creating a better future for Oak Ridde."
